Fire Ecology in Rocky Mountain Landscapes is William Baker's 2009 book, a go-to reference for the history of fire in the Rockies. Baker closes the book with Chapter 12, "Toward a Better Relationship Between People and Fire" wherein he summarizes the findings of the book and brings those findings into a positive look at how humans can co-exist with wildfire without destroying the forests. We present the entire final chapter under the fair use provision of copyright law to help educate citizens, homeowners, developers, foresters and elected officials. Here's the full final chapter:
