Our Work

The Santa Fe Forest Coalition strengthens the efforts of small conservation groups in educating the public, the media and policy makers on critical issues concerning forest and wildlife preservation in New Mexico. The Coalition brings in nationally recognized speakers, organizes hikes and workshops, meets with elected representatives and editorial boards, publishes opinion pieces and arranges for members to appear on local radio, conducts breeding bird surveys, hosts fund raising events, tables at food coops and farmers markets and maintains an informative website. We are focused currently on ensuring that forest managers take the required hard look at the environmental consequences of projects that call for large-scale manipulation of native forests in the name of fire prevention.
